Listening Post is an art installation that culls text fragments in real time from thousands of unrestricted Internet chat rooms, bulletin boards and other public forums. The texts are read (or sung) by a voice synthesizer, and simultaneously displayed across a suspended grid of more than two hundred small electronic screens.
Listening Post cycles through a series of six movements, each a different arrangement of visual, aural, and musical elements, each with it’s own data processing logic.
Dissociating the communication from its conventional on-screen presence, Listening Post is a visual and sonic response to the content, magnitude, and immediacy of virtual communication.
Photo sculptures by Alejandra Laviada explores both photography and sculpture in her artwork. She assembles found objects into unusual arrays and configurations and then photographs them. this process aims to transform the way we look at these ordinary objects. She was born in Mexico city and later studied in the united states before returning home. This exhibit focuses on her most recent series, ‘photo sculptures’. The exhibit will also be her debut american solo show.
Haar woorden: When in London last weekend, we visited Walking in My Mind ‘adventure into the artist’s imagination’. Having a background in philosophy of the mind, it was very interesting to gain some insights into the artists perspectives of the mind.
Most interesting works from Yoshimoto Nara, Charles Avery, Thomas Hirschhorn, Jason Rhoades.
Interesting how most depictions still were materialistic in nature. With more than a few allusions to the brain. But saw some very interesting work. A must see…
The 30-minute animated movie “Fatenah” is the first serious Palestinian attempt at animation and tells the story of a Gazan woman who battles against breast cancer, with inept Palestinian doctors and indifferent Israeli soldiers. The filmmakers said they used animation to make their grim subject more appealing.
